Each year, the Philanthropy Committee reviews dozens of grant requests from non-profit organizations that serve the Sandy Springs community. Organizations that promote heritage, education, the arts, social services and the environment are considered.
Grants are awarded only to 501 (c) (3) organizations.
The following criteria must be met:
- Organizations must be non-partisan and secular.
- Grants must be used within twelve months.
- Grants must be used solely for the purpose as stated in the acceptance letter.
- Organizations with religious affiliations qualify only if such organizations are separately incorporated, licensed and designated as a 501 (c) (3) by the Internal Revenue Service.
No less than 35% of funds available for disbursement in any given year shall be given to Heritage Sandy Springs.
Since its inception, the Society has awarded grants in the amount of $2,144,791.00
